What are Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouting is a fun way to spend time with your child and the whole family. The fun has a purpose: That is, to help reinforce the positive values you want your child to develop—character, leadership, personal fitness, and citizenship. These values are presented in a fun and engaging method along with experiencing the outdoors, learning about personal safety, and discovering your family traditions.
Cub Scouts benefit developmentally from belonging to a small group of peers. Your child will be a part of a den, a small group of Cub Scouts usually in the same grade. Through this sense of belonging, children build self-esteem and learn to get along with others.
We know that kids do not join Cub Scouting for character building. Youth join because it is fun. Your child will learn great lessons, but they will be far too busy having fun to notice.
About Pack 269:
We are a dynamic and adventurous group of young scouts dedicated to learning, growing, and having fun together. Our pack is rooted in the values of the Cub Scout program, fostering a sense of community, leadership, and responsibility among our members. Whether we’re exploring the great outdoors, working on exciting projects, or participating in community service, Pack 269 is all about building character, making friends, and creating lasting memories.
Pack 269 proudly welcomes boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade, primarily from Niles and Parkmont Elementary and other surrounding schools in the area. Our pack meetings and activities take place at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Niles, providing a central and historic location for our scouts to gather, learn, and have fun together. - Lion Den – Kindergarten
- Tiger Den – 1st grade
- Wolf Den – 2nd grade
- Bear Den – 3rd grade
- Webelos 1 Den – 4th grade
- Arrow of Light (AoL) Den – 5th grade
How often do you meet?
We meet 2 times per month and occasionally more.
- Den meetings (advancement activities for each grade level) generally happen on the first Wednesday of the month.
- Pack meetings happen on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, although this is sometimes superceded by a weekend pack activity.
- The meetings take place from 7 pm to 8 pm in the Veterans Memorial in Niles at 37154 2nd St, Fremont, CA 94536.

How is Pack 269 organized?
The scouts are divided by age/school grade into separate Dens. Each Den has a leader and a schedule of yearly activities they complete within a year.
What level of involvement is expected from parents?
There’s lots of opportunity for parents to help out and contribute to each of the activities below, and we always welcome new leadership in scouts. Parents are expected to attend Den and Pack meetings with their scouts. At least one parent is also needed for overnight activities, which we do a couple times during the year. We also have a few pack potlucks, where families bring and share food with each other.
What activities do Scouts do?
Aside from recurring meetings mentioned earlier, we do weekend activities usually once a month. Not all weekend activities are required, although they are often enjoyable for scouts and are sometimes necessary to meet the requirements for advancement in the program. Your Den Leader can provide more specific detail on which activities are necessary for advancement.
Fun activities:
- Christmas party
- Pinewood Derby
- Raingutter Regatta
- Blue and Gold Dinner
- Woodworking
Community and teamwork-building activities:
- Scouting for Food (helping with charitable food collection) in November
- Service day project (e.g. help clean school grounds, etc.) in Spring
- Visit local police and fire station to learn about community service men and women – throughout the year
Outdoor and camping activities:
- Visit local nature centers
- Monthly hikes
- Overnight camping for all scouts and their families – Fall campout and Graduation Camp
