What to Buy
Once you are registered and part of a den that has leaders assigned, please go ahead and purchase the uniform and book.
- Uniform and book are available for sale at any Scout Store. There are stores located in Palo Alto, San Jose and Pleasant Hill. If you tell the employee there what den, pack (we are Pack 269) and council (we belong to Golden Gate Area Council) your scout belongs to, they will be able to tell you what you need
- Having the book is important to follow the den activities. Different dens (age groups) use different books – make sure that you buy the correct book for your den / age group
2024 update: The Cubscout program has been revamped and any older books are no longer valid (you cannot use an older sibling’s book) - The uniform is blue for tigers, wolves and bears, and tan for webelos** and AOL.
Lions wear a t-shirt.
** If you are a Webelos with a Blue uniform that still fits, you do not need to buy a new one yet (see leader for clarification) - What parts of the uniform to buy:
- You should buy the shirt (which is used for patches), neckerchief and neckerchief slide, and, for tigers, wolves and bears, buy the belt too (since it is used to hold advancement loops)
- For all scouts except lions buy the council and World Crest and Ring patches (if they are not already attached to the shirt). Also the Council Shoulder patch for the Golden Gate Area Council.
- For webelos and AOL (4th, 5th grade) buy the “Adventure Rank Colors” that is used to attach awards, and the blue shoulder loops
- Scout pants and hat are nice to have, but not required
- The Scout Store employees might suggest to buy other things, like e.g. socks. Our suggestion is don’t buy them. Everyone just wears regular socks
- Do not buy the number patches for the number of the Pack (269). We have “269” patches that we will give to all enrolled scouts
