New Scouts

Step 1: Come to a meeting and visit with parents and leaders to see if Scouting is for your family.

Families can “try before you buy” by attending meetings and activities, but registration and uniforms are expected by the end of Fall.

Step 2: Enroll with Scouting America and pay National and Council Fees using this link

This enrollment is required to be registered as a Scout, and to be covered by the BSA insurance during scouting activities. A breakdown of the fees can be found here: Information for New parents

Step 3: Submit Pack 269 Application form (available here) and pay Pack Fees (make check payable to Pack 269) to a pack leader

Pack fees are needed by the Pack to pay for the cost of running its activities. Details on pack fees are available here: Information for New parents

Step 4: Purchase Uniform and Handbook

Uniforms are available in Scout shops or may be ordered online. You can see our guide on what to purchase. We recommend purchasing in person to check size and to size up so it can last more than 1 year. The closest Scout shops are in Pleasanton and Palo Alto.

Step 5: Consider Becoming a Leader

Cub Scouting is a family program, and we encourage parents to get involved!

Returning Scouts

If you are a returning scout, renewal requires two steps:

Renew and pay National / Regional Council fees before your annual renewal date on https://my.scouting.org/.
Pay Pack fees by submitting a check (payable to Pack 269)and an application form (available here) to a Pack leader. Pack fees are needed by the Pack to pay for the cost of running its activities.

General Information

All Pack leaders are unpaid volunteers. Pack fees are used to pay for activity materials, meeting room and campground rent, awards for scouts, etc. None of them are used to pay leaders.

It is the policy of Pack 269 to help families in cases where paying registration fees is a problem due to financial difficulties. Please let a Pack leader know if that is the case.
